I’ve just been alerted by my good friend, Johnny Short, regarding this latest news headline: “Mexican Trucks Begin Crossing Border Saturday.” He forwarded a current news item which tells of Mexican trucks coming into the U.S. to deliver goods – a first.
He prefaces his email with this comment: “This is for anyone who hasn’t yet figured out who runs this American show! And don’t count on the next election either, because Marshall Law in place can stop that for as long as it is declared!”
This can’t be good for the American public. What about all my truck driver friends in the U.S. and the trucking companies they work for? And what about safety out on the highways with all the new trucks (from Mexico) hitting the roadways? And this is Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest weekends of the year when it comes to driving on the highways. And what about the massive immigration problem (especially illegal immigrants) that we are already faced with?
It was already a really bad move for the American people that American factories have gone south of the border to hire cheap labor and have lower overhead costs. But now the shipping will also be coming from south of the border. What a slap in the face for the American public!
Apparently Johnny is quite alarmed at current events. And it is time that the American public wakes up. It is easy to sit back and watch TV or get wrapped up in work, leisure, or personal things, but when was the last time you did something to help someone else or participated in a group effort to help the world in some small way? The world needs more go-getters and activists (hopefully for the right reasons and causes).
The best I can suggest is to write, FAX, and email your congressmen and congresswomen. Also contact President Bush’s office. The only way to slow down this process of taking away jobs from the American public and giving them to others is to take up petitions, write letters, etc. (BE AN ACTIVIST). If you are part of a union or other special interest group, rally your members together and see what actions you can take as a group to slow down or maybe even halt situations like this. You can also write letters to the newspaper and contact people in the media.
