Ron Paul Gets My Vote!

Although it is a year until the 2008 election and a couple months before the first primaries are held, I have made up my mind as to who I will support. Ron Paul holds a strict view of the U.S. constitution. He is against government overstepping its bounds. He wants to clean up some of the big messes that have been made in government in the last several decades (if not before). And he is a fervent Christian.

Congressman Ron Paul from Texas is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. He has an impeccable voting history:

“He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.

He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.”

The above statements and portrait are grafted directly from the official Ron Paul webpage:

For those who may be interested, here is how I came to learn about Ron Paul. I’ve been doing a lot of study on health and nutrition in the last couple years (although earlier I gained some insights from my dad’s over 50-years of study). For a couple years I have subscribed to a nutrition list (which has a high volume of subscribers) which is run by Dr. Joseph Mercola in Schaumburg, IL. The main website is: http://www.mercola.com

Anyway, Dr. Mercola has been promoting Ron Paul for a number of months for a lot of reasons, but especially because he does not want to regulate the nutrition & health avenues in this country.

Then I’ve been reading up on the internet. There is no doubt in my mind that Ron Paul gets my vote! I’ve recently switched my views from Republican to Libertarian. But Ron Paul gets my vote either way.

Mark “Majic” Jones, a local freedom fighter who has run for county office, helped me get connected with the local group in Springfield, Missouri, where I live, and it is an active, vibrant, hardworking group that I am already proud of, and I only joined the group 2 days ago—Woo Hoo!

I can’t begin to share all the good things I have to say about Ron Paul, but he reminds me so much of Jimmy Stewart in the film, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” who represents the powerful forces of American freedom, democracy and morality over oppression and evil. Ron Paul also reminds me of Fess Parker as Col. Davy Crockett in the movie, “Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier” where he wins a seat in the Nashville legislature, and his heroism is rather cynically exploited by presidential candidate Andrew Jackson.

Recently, I have become fed up with the Status Quo (Republican/Democrat 2-party system). Also Big Brother (Government) is gradually taking away our rights. Too many laws, too much bureaucracy, wasted money, and no real checks & balances.

From what I can read in print and find on the internet, Ron Paul is the man of the hour who can cut through the extra baggage and corruption to put America back on track for the freedoms found in the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, and continued sovereignty and strength of the American nation.
