I’ve already shared about my experience at the Springfield, Missouri Straw Poll on November 1st. It is obvious that Springfield, Missouri has strong support for Ron Paul—already—and the election is a whole year away. People in Branson and outlying areas are also seeing the light as this grassroots movement continues to grow.
At the Veterans Day Parade in Branson on November 11, 2007, there will be a following of Ron Paul supporters who will be passing out tracts and literature and holding up signs to promote the cause. One of Ron Paul’s messages is that the current system of the Federal Bank and the Internal Revenue Service is abusive and corrupt in its present form. Ron Paul promises to abolish the IRS. It is reported that at least one country entertainer has changed their allegiance to Ron Paul for this very reason.
Ron Paul’s message is appealing to all Americans—no matter what their prior party affiliations or beliefs. It is amazing! He has a message of hope and freedom that just can’t be beat. I have never, ever seen a political figure on the national level that I could endorse so fully. Apparently a lot of other people are catching on and joining in the campaign.
Here are some recent news articles that appeared in the Springfield News-Leader, some dating back even to 2006, which is VERY EARLY in the campaign. It is obvious that Ron Paul has a strong following in Springfield, Missouri. See the article references below:

Republicans ‘out-strange’ the Democrats (3/24/2007):
*This is a lengthy article on all the candidates. The article is available online from the Springfield-Greene County Library with a valid library card or through NewsBank, Inc.
Here is a brief quote from the article:
“Meanwhile, back at the ranch, nine-term Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a Republican Libertarian, was announcing that he, too, would seek the nomination and, to prove his seriousness, had already raised $50,000 for his campaign.”
–Remember this is March 2007—more than a year and a half before the elections. And the information I have available says there was a typo in this article. By March 2007 he had actually raised $500,000 for his campaign!

Congress must stop its raiding (5/4/2007):
*Letter to the editor, available through the Springfield library or other sources.
Brief quote:
“Maybe, Rep. Boehner and all other House members could solve this dilemma by voting in favor of H.R. 219 (proposed by Ron Paul, R-Texas), the Social Security Preservation Act now pending in Congress. This act will stop the raid of the Social Security Trust Fund.”

Candidate follows Constitution (8/11/2007):
*Letter to the editor, available through the Springfield library or other sources.
Very Brief quote (please note that the entire letter is very, very good):
“Dr. Paul has been re-elected by the people of that district for 10 terms. As a Republican member of the U.S. House Representatives, Paul has consistently voted on pending bills in strict accordance with the United States Constitution. The Constitution is that document ratified in 1789 that all our elected representatives swear to uphold, but few do.”

Ron Paul being ignored (8/16/2007):
*Letter to the editor, available through the Springfield library or other sources.
Brief quote:
Regarding the Iowa Straw Poll, “… there were still more Ron Paul supporters there than all other candidate supporters put together. Fox News skipped Ron Paul’s name going from Tancredo to Tommy Thompson and refused to even make a mention of Ron Paul. For a candidate who posted a strong 9.1 percent of the vote while being blatantly ignored and ridiculed by the media is a statement that can’t be denied.”—Jim Palmisano
