The most shocking news today (12/20/2007) is that Congress and President Bush have been working behind the scenes (not just now, but for a long time) to undo the Secure Fence Act that is so very much needed in this country. Probably the best report of this travesty can be found in a report prepared by Grassfire.org, a conservative-based organization that works to preserve the individual rights and freedoms of U.S. citizens. Here is the main report:
Special Report: Border Fence Funding Hoax of 2006 and 2007 (12/20/2007)
http://www.firesociety.com/article/19402/?src=111
The reports I have read are that funding was at one time allocated for a double-layer fence to secure the Southern border of the U.S. in order to halt the rampant influx of illegal aliens coming into this country from Mexico. But that has now been discarded.
Initially legislation had been proposed that would lay the grounds for an open border and amnesty for illegal aliens already in this country. And other groundwork would make way for a superhighway from Canada through the middle of the U.S. to Mexico. And that would all be part of a plan to do away with U.S. sovereignty and make way for what is called the North American Union. And our money would be traded in for another form of money that would be called an Amero.
I believe I can speak for ALL of the common men and women in the U.S. This is NOT what the American people want! We must not let this happen.
After groups like Grassfire.com, the John Birch Society, and other citizens groups (as well as private individuals acting on their own) sounded the alarm and contacted their congressmen and the President, it looked like the original legislation was at a stand still and that the borders indeed would be secured—after all, the monies were then allocated, and a plan was set forth. But now it is obvious this all was a hoax.
Now it looks like deception was involved, and it looks like even though countless American citizens have emailed, FAXED, phoned, and written letters to their congressman with a flood of resounding NO’s to this type of legislation, that congress and President Bush have given a deaf ear to the wishes of the people. They are selling our country out to some higher world governing system.
As early as 11/14/2007, Grassfire.com was made aware of the original secure fence actions being gutted. They reported that a carefully crafted amendment was expected on a Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill that would make the Secure Fence Act of 2006’s double-layer fence mandate obsolete.
“This amendment releases DHS from any requirement to build any amount of border fencing in any location,” said Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott. “Basically, DHS can choose to build no fence at all and the Secure Fence Act’s mandate of 854 miles of double-layer fencing becomes a meaningless political hoax.”
And Grassfire.org hit the nail on the head. They were exactly right in their assessment of this hoax (and apparently other citizens and groups were wise to what was really going on at Capitol Hill as well).
Last night (12/19/2007) Congress passed the omnibus Consolidated Appropriations bill — which includes the Hutchison Amendment that totally guts the Secure Fence Act!
It is time for the American people, as a grassroots action, to protest these types of actions in every way possible (keep contacting the President and congress, etc.—even do protest marches if necessary) and seek to get different people in office who will better serve the needs of the people and the working class in the United States.

With the Bush pardons, has he pardoned the sentences of Ramos and Compean?
Finally, finally, President bush did pardon Ramos and Compean on January 19, 2009, on his last full day of being president. Why did he wait so long?? It had to be all about politics and maintaining his image, or something like that. Ramos and Compean should have been released long ago. And I can’t believe it is still going to take until March for them to actually be let out.
